UQ Global Connect

Global Connect (GC) is a student initiative with members from all over the world with the same goals: education, friendship and cultural exchange. GC can be a one-stop guide about surviving in university, or it could be more: learning about different ways of life across the globe, networking with potential future leaders, a character-building experience to last a lifetime.

Launched on 9 October 2008 by the School of Journalism and Communication in the University of Queensland (UQ), GC provides forward-looking students with a platform to network globally. UQ is the first and only university to launch such a concept.

With the advent of technology, a world without borders is what students today will be entering upon graduation. Our objectives are to equip students with a keen understanding of different cultures and international affairs, and the means to distinguishing oneself amidst a highly globalised, competitive economy.

Temasek Polytechnic

Nominate Temasek Polytechnic for the Singapore Education Awards

Category 1: Best Educational Event organised by a Public Educational Institution

Dear Students & Alumni

Temasek Polytechnic (TP) participated in the Singapore Chingay Parade of Dreams in February 2008. TP hosted Irish students from Institute of Art, Design & Technology (IADT). Our students and friends from Ireland practiced and jointly put up an item “Legend of Balor” at the Singapore Chingay Parade 2008 where the theme of this year’s Parade is “myths and legends”. The performance was a colorful and eye catching one with celtic style costumes, which is an inspiration from the book of Kells and other similar ancient Irish manuscript.

We invite you to give us your support and nominate Temasek Polytechnic for the Best Educational Event organised by a Public Educational Institution. This award recognises public educational institution that has delivered a programme or an event for international students that is both enriching and enjoyable.

TP deserves to be nominated for this award as we have:
developed multicultural awareness and interaction among the students through their making new friends from different countries.
enabled students to learn about the various cultures through watching the performance at Chingay Parade 2008.
promoted bonding and camaraderie among TP students and Irish friends.
coached students to develope skills in coordinating a major event and hosting friends from Ireland .
introduced the different Singapore cuisine to the friends from Ireland throughout their stay in Singapore .

Please feel free to add more to the above list!

Nominate for TP and put in your nomination now!!! Log in and vote for us at http://www.seawards.sg/vote.asp from now till 30 September 2008
